What is Myopia Classification

Myopia can be classified as into two groups. 1. Non pathological myopia  2. Pathological myopia  Non pathological myopia  The myopic condition in which the fundus pathology is not involved. This condition is caused by change in power, index or length of eye ball Pathological myopia This condition is caused by the presence of pathology in the fundus of eye.  The myopia can be classified as low, medium and high categories of myopia.

What is myopia?

Myopia is nearsightedness and this condition of eye occurs when the power of eye is increased from the normal powers of eye. The normal powers of eye is 58DS and the eye with >58DS eye power will be marked as myopic eye.  Definition   When parallel light rays coming from the infinity focus Infront of the retina while the accommodation should be at rest this condition of eye is known as myopia.

How to correct myopia?

Myopia is shortsightedness and in this case the power of eye is increased from normal eye power.  For example: The normal power of eye is 58DS. The eye power >58DS will be considered as myopic eye. e.g. the eye with Power of +60DS is a myopic eye. And the myopia of this eye will be -2DS (60-58).  The myopia can be corrected through glasses, contact lenses and refractive surgery. The minus lens is placed inform of the eye equal to the myopic power of eye to neutralize the myopia of eye in glasses of contact lens form. The minus or concave lens is the option to treat or manage myopia.
