Welcome to Optometry Club!

I'm a clinical optometrist with a background in public health and healthcare management, and this site is where I share reliable, up-to-date information on eye health and vision care. My goal is simple: help people understand how their eyes work, how to protect their vision, and how to recognize and manage common eye conditions before they become serious.

I hold an MS in Healthcare Management, with coursework spanning epidemiology, biostatistics, health laws and ethics, occupational health, and public health fundamentals, alongside my clinical training in optometry. That combination shapes how I write here, grounded in clinical practice, but also mindful of the bigger picture of access to care and public health education.

I believe good vision shouldn't be a privilege, and that understanding your own eye health is one of the most practical forms of self-care available to anyone. Every article on this site is written to be accurate, accessible, and genuinely useful, whether you're a patient trying to understand a diagnosis or a fellow eye care professional looking for a clear clinical reference.

The Normal Field of Vision

 The normal field of vision refers to the area that can be seen by an individual without moving their eyes or head. It is typically measured in degrees and can vary slightly from person to person. The average normal field of vision is around 200 degrees, with some variation based on age, sex, and other factors. The normal field of vision can be divided into two main categories: central vision and peripheral vision. Central vision is the area of the visual field that is directly in front of an individual and is responsible for detailed vision tasks such as reading and writing. It is typically around 5 degrees and is centered around the fovea, a small area in the retina responsible for high acuity vision. Peripheral vision, on the other hand, is the area of the visual field outside of central vision and is responsible for detecting movement and changes in the environment. Lattice degeneration;
